Shah Jo Raag's Fakirs - Pakistan

The verses of spiritual poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai are cecited by Fakirs between sunset and sunrise at the poet's shirne at Bhit Shah, Sindh. At the poet's death anniversary, when hundreds of thousands of followers visit the tomb to honour their spiritual master. The poetry and music, both vocal and instrumental are considered an inseparable unit. Though the mystical music of Sindh does have some roots in Indian Classical Musice, but it is primaril inspired by the Sindhi Folk Music, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai gave a new interpretation to age old folk legends of Sindh, and shining symbols of suffering and love. Sufi mysticism is the soul of this poetry and offers a message of hope and love to the people of the area.
