The theme
of the year’s Festival aimed at celebrating innovation
in theatre and dance -drama over the last 100 years. With the
development of both technical and artistic aspects, each had
served to enlarge and recreate the other; experiments in the
spheres of lighting and sound etc., have broadened not only
artistic possibilities in theatre itself, but also furthered
and strengthened artistic vision all over the world.
It
is this sense of vision that RPTW has endeavored to mature over
the previous seven Festivals. Not only has local participation
remained enthusiastic and committed to the cause of performing
arts in the country, but also international participation has
given audiences the opportunity to savour world class theatre.
The underlying aim of the Festival is not to provide merely
entertainment, but to seek to develop the aesthetic inclination
of theare goers and educate it for better class of theatre.
